2019 Umpires

If you are interested in becoming an umpire for the 2019 LaGrange Little League season baseball & softball, please fill out our registration, which can be accessed at the link below.

LGLL has always welcomed our former players and members of the community to continue their participation in the game by becoming officials.  All you need is a working knowledge of the game and passion to give back.  Our umpires are compensated in a range from $24 - $32 per game.

Like last year, we will host umpire training sessions before games begin in April.  We also will observe our umpires and provide feedback throughout the season.

REGISTRATION

Each interested umpire must complete registration at http://assn.la/Reg/?r=3:181366.  You must be age 13 or older to serve as an umpire -- sorry, no exceptions.  It is critical that all information requested on the form be completed so that we can properly slot umpires for the season.  Registration will remain open through April 7, 2019.

MANDATORY TRAINING!

We will hold training sessions for our umpires before the season begins.  The first two sessions are scheduled for Tuesday February 19th and Tuesday February 26th from 7:30pm - 8:3-pm at Diamond Edge in Willowbrook.  Please plan on attending both sessions.

Please feel free to e-mail with any questions at LGLLUmpires@gmail.com.

2019 Volunteer

2019 La Grange Little League

Volunteer Policy

(You must complete the Volunteer Section in order to Register Player(s) )

LaGrange Little League is a 100% volunteer-run organization serving over 700 kids each year.  Volunteers manage and coach our kids, umpire their ballgames, maintain our fields and equipment, run our concession stand, and do all the other things that make our program one of the best youth sports programs in the area.  Simply put, there would be no LaGrange Little League without volunteers.

With this in mind, LaGrange Little League asks each family to volunteer for at least one event over the course of a season.  This year, there will be a $100 volunteer commitment deposit to be paid at the time of registration.  Families who fulfill their volunteer commitment will receive a refund of that deposit.  Alternatively, families may elect to “opt out” of their volunteer commitment at the time of registration, in which case the fee will be nonrefundable.

This is NOT applicable to families registering in the Challenger program.

Registration for Volunteer positions will open in late December or early January.  Volunteer opportunities will include:

  • Baseball Skills Testing Day (late January);
  • Softball Skills Testing Day (late January);
  • Field preparation service;
  • Closing Ceremonies service;
  • Concession stand service;
  • Sponsor;
  • Team manager; and
  • Team coach (limit 2 per team chosen by manager).*

Volunteers must show up and complete the jobs for which they volunteer in order to receive a refund.

If you have any questions, contact our volunteer coordinator at lgllvolunteercoordinator@gmail.com.

Thank you for doing your part in helping our kids play ball!

*  Managers are free to have more than two parents help them coach, but in order to ensure a sufficient pool of volunteers for all the other important things that need to be done during the year, only two coaches may be designated to receive volunteer credit.

2019 Winter Softball Pitching Clinics

We hope you are as excited as we are for another season of little league softball. It will be here before we know it!

To help prepare for the 2019 season, La Grange Little League is offering softball pitching clinics on six Monday nights at the Seventh Avenue School gym starting in mid-January. Leading the clinics will be Margaret Strojny, who was an All-Area pitcher at Riverside-Brookfield during her high school career. Margaret was highly recruited in high school, and went on to the University of Alabama. We are looking forward to having her share her pitching knowledge with the girls!

The clinics will take place on 1/14, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/25, and 3/4. Players in 1st through 3rd grades will practice from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m, and 4th through 8th graders will practice from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.  To help things run efficiently, we are looking for as many parents as possible to join us at the clinics to serve as catchers for their daughters.  It should be a fun learning experience for everyone!

The total cost for 6 sessions is $40. Registration can be completed on the LGLL website.

2019 Challenger

The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a seperate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in the sport worldwide.

Teams are set up according to abilities, rather than age, and can include as many as 15-20 players. LGLL Challenger games are t-ball or coach pitch.

In a Challenger game, each player gets a chance at bat. The side is retired when the offense has batted through the roster. Little League recommends that no scores are kept during the Challenger games. Most games are completed after two or three innings.

Registration for Challenger is always open.
