LaGrange Little League Player Development Program

The LaGrange Little League Board is thrilled to announce a robust Player Development Program.  We feel it is imperative to offer additional training and resources to all players, coaches and parents free of charge.  LaGrange Little League offers more free development training to our players than any area little league.  We have divided our program into the following areas:

Pre-Draft Warm Up Session – We offered the beautiful Diamond Edge facility for all players being evaluated in the draft.  Players were able to pitch on the mounds, hit in the cages, and field on the turf free of charge for two hours.  This warm up prepared players for the skills testing.

Practice Plans – We put practice plans for coaches on the website.

Training Videos – We put Cal Ripken instructional videos on the website.  Please review them.  A variety of topics are covered.  Additional training videos on different topics are available on our website.

Tip of the Week – We put Tip of the Week videos on the website for all to view.

Coaches Clinic for Softball and Baseball – We are having two coaches’ clinics.  Clinics are being run by the Chicago White Sox Academy.  The dates are:

  • Saturday, May 7th, 8:30 – 10:30 am at Sedgwick A Field

  • Tuesday May 17th, 5:45 – 7:15 pm at Sedgwick A Field; first 15 minutes is a warm up.

Players Clinics – We are having players’ clinics that will cover pitching, infield, outfield and hitting.  These clinics are instructed by our coaches who have vast experiences and skills.  Last year’s clinics were a huge success.

The dates are:

  • Saturday May 21st, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Sedgwick A Field

  • Tuesday June 7th, 5:30 – 7:00 pm at Sedgwick B Field

  • More dates to be determined based on availability of fields and coaches

Coaches Evaluations – Again this year all coaches can be evaluated.  Player development is a key component.  Coaches will be evaluated on how all players develop over the season.  Coaches will be given your input if you so choose.

Additional “Professional” Training – We have many resources in the area available to your player if they want additional training.  The following is a list of some of the organizations that LaGrange Little League works with.  There is a fee for their services so please review their websites and contact them directly for information.
